Cabinet Card photos were found in Jefferson City, MO. The photo of the couple was taken at S. Winans in Jefferson City; the back is labeled William and Marie (Neighorn) Beck. The cabinet card appears to be a wedding photo of the couple. It is good condition with some yellowing and spotting. The second photo of the family was taken in Jefferson City at F.B. Suden’s on May 11, 1888. The back is labeled Mr. and Mrs. (Mary) Wm. S. Beck, Herman and Julius. The photo is also in good condition with some yellowing and spotting. I have not touched up these photos but believe any photo editing program could lighten and adjust the colors to improve the quality of these two cabinet cards.

Research Notes
There are many Beck families in the area so extra time was taken to ensure the correct information was presented. Cole county marriage records list a Simon Wilhelm Beck marring an Elizabeth M. Neighorn on August 6, 1878. The 1880 census from Cole County, Missouri list a William S. and Mary Beck, no children have been born at the time of the census. After several hours of research I believe the marriage record and the 1880 census record are the same couple and the subject in the two photos. The 1900 Cole County, Missouri census finds William married to Amelia and living with children Julius, Augusta, Lydia, Theo and Oscar. William reports being married seven years. The age of Julius is fifteen, Augusta ten and Lydia nine. The age of Julius would correspond to the youngest child in the family photo. Julius, Augusta and Lydia were born prior to the marriage of William and Amelia. Marriage records list a Simon W. Beck and Amelia Deffner, June 11, 1893. Marriage is recorded in Cole County but occurred in St. Louis. The assumption is Mary Beck nee Neighorn had died sometime after the birth of Lydia. Herman is not living with the family; he could be attending school somewhere or also died. The 1910 and 1920 census continues to show William living with Amelia and his growing family. Missouri death certificates list Simon William Beck dying February 25, 1935; buried in Honey Creek Cemetery, Cole Co., MO.
