Carte de Visite (CDV) was found in Jefferson City, Missouri.  The photo is in excellent condition and includes a blue two cent Washington stamp on the back as well as a negative number.  The photo is labeled “Frank King Biggs” and was taken at H.C. Phillips in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  The two cent stamps were issued as part of the 1864 to 1866 revenue act.  The stamp helps to date the photo to the mid 1860’s time period.  Frank appears to be about two or three years old in the photo, placing date of birth between 1861 and 1866.

A search of the 1870 census lists several Frank-Franklin-Francis Bigg’s about the correct age of the photo.  None have a birth place listed for Pennsylvania.  Subsequent census years return about the same results.  However, the California death index includes a Frank King Biggs born New York, September 21, 1861 and died in Los Angeles, August 21, 1955.  Father’s name is listed as Biggs and mother’s maiden name as King.
