 Research Notes

 Funeral card for John W. Boyer list death as October 23, 1903 aged 71 years, 10 months and 18 days.  This would make John’s birth December 5, 1831.  There is an obituary listing from Montgomery County, Missouri for a John W. Boyer born December 5, 1831 and a death of October 23, 1903, I am fairly confident this is a match.  The funeral card was found in an antique store in Jefferson City, MO about an hour from Montgomery County.  The card is in very good condition with just slight ware on the edges.  There is no writing on the back of the card.  There were other unlabeled photos from Iowa and Freeport, Illinois in the same pile as the Boyer Funeral card.

John Boyer and family were found in the 1870, 1880 and 1900 Montgomery County, Missouri census records.  John and wife Lucy, sometimes listed as Jennie were listed with children Clarence, Cairo, George, Lillian, C.W. and Lula.  All of the children were born in Illinois except Lula who was born in Missouri.

Missouri Death certificates include

Lucy Jane Boyer, #33590 born October 18, 1838 in Turner, Maine and died October 6, 1912 in Wellsville, Montgomery County, Missouri.  Lucy’s parents are listed are Wm. Rundlett and Elizabeth Lane both of Maine.  The informant on the death certificate was not listed but does state the former residence of Lucy was Illinois and had been in the area forty years.

George Edward Boyer, #8398 was born September 7, 1862 in Freeport, Illinois and died in Mexico, Audrain County, Missouri on February 15, 1946.  George’s parents are listed as John W. Boyer and Lucy J Rundlett.  John is list as being born in Maryland and Lucy in Turner, Maine.  Informant name is difficult to read but may be Clarence Dustin.

Both Lucy and son George’s death certificates list burial in Wellsville, Montgomery County, Missouri.
